Tickets & MRT Pass
Everything about tickets, MRT Pass, and payment options
There are two main types of tickets/cards available under DMTCL:
Single Journey Ticket
- • One-time use only
- • Valid until midnight on purchase day
- • Available from TVMs and counters
MRT Pass
- • Reusable smart card
- • 10% discount on all fares
- • 10-year validity
- • Up to ৳10,000 balance
MRT Pass (Metro Only)
Rapid Pass (Multi-Modal)
Recharge/Top-up Options:
- • EFO counters at stations
- • Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs)
- • DBBL branches (for Rapid Pass)
- • Minimum recharge: ৳100
- • Maximum balance: ৳10,000
Note: Fares depend on the distance traveled. MRT Pass holders get 10% discount on all fares.

Rules & Prohibited Items
Important rules, prohibited items, and travel guidelines
Strictly Prohibited
Carrying pets, animals, or birds is strictly prohibited on metro trains. This policy ensures passenger safety and hygiene. A complete list of prohibited items is available on the DMTCL website under the policies section.
Not Allowed
- • Eating or drinking inside trains
- • Fish, meat, wet vegetables
- • Strong-smelling foods
- • Items that may spill or smell
- • Fresh flowers
Allowed
- • Packaged food in bags
- • Bottled beverages in bags
- • Sealed containers
- • Non-perishable snacks (packed)
Dangerous Items
- • Flammable or explosive items
- • Sharp weapons
- • Alcohol or illegal substances
Size Restrictions
- • Large luggage (oversized bags)
- • Bulky items
Living Things
- • Pets, animals, or birds
- • Plants or flowers

Safety & Emergency
Emergency procedures, safety information, and assistance
Inside the Train
- 1. Remain calm and alert nearby passengers
- 2. Press the emergency communication button
- 3. Contact train operator or control center
- 4. Follow crew instructions
At the Station
- 1. Alert station staff immediately
- 2. Contact Station Controller
- 3. Contact MRT Police immediately
- 4. Use designated emergency exits if needed
Security: All stations and trains are equipped with CCTV surveillance and emergency protocols for passenger safety.
Lost & Found Procedure
If you lose something on the train, platform, or concourse level:
Contact the Station Controller at the nearest station
Visit the MRT Police Control Room at the concourse level
Report lost items as soon as possible for better recovery chances.
Immediate Action Required
Step 1: Immediately inform the MRT Police Control Room located at the concourse level of the station.
Step 2: The MRT Police Force will take necessary action and investigation.
Step 3: Provide detailed information about the incident and any witnesses.

Note: Currently, there is no half-fare system for students or seniors. However, all passengers using rechargeable cards (MRT Pass or Rapid Pass) receive a 10% discount.
